Tehran Mehrabad airport is one of the most crowded Iran airports. Mehrabad has been located in south-western of Tehran and near Azadi square in Meraj Street. Antiquity of this airport returns to 1939 year and first Pahlavi era and it’s name comes from a village where it is located there. Before start to work of Imam Khomeini international airport, all internal and foreign flights were done from the same place a Mehrabad was only Tehran airport. But now here was one of the most traffic airports of the country that daily transfers large numbers of passengers and cargo and is allocated to internal flights. Only in 2015 year, about 133 thousands input and output flights in Mehrabad have been recorded.
Mehrabad airport terminals
Years passengers came on from two terminals until by and by new terminal were also established. Now number of Mehrabad airport terminals has been reached to six. Terminal 4 is allocated only to output flights of Mehrabad airport and terminal 6 is allocated to input flights. This is to say (that) terminal 2 is so the most crowded airport terminal, if your flight destination is internal or you go to airport to welcome, you should know that which terminal you go to. Terminal 1 covers output flights of airline companies of Zagros, Kish air and Varesh. In terminal 2, input flights of Kish air, Zagros, Varesh and input and output flights of airlines, Iran air, Ata, Karevan, Iran air tour, Qeshm air and Meraj are done Terminal 4 is also accepting output flights passengers of Mahan, Kaspian, Taban, Atrak, Aseman, Pooya, Saha, Sepehran airline companies. Input flights of Mahan, Kaspian, Aseman, Taban, Atrak, Saha, Sepehran and Pooya airline companies enter terminal 6. Only passengers of Hadj and Umrah flights traffic from terminal 3 and 5.
